I don't know about you guys, but the Met Gala -- the annual fete where fashion's finest come dressed to the nines -- is the best way to become apathetic about priorities, at least for a few hours, that us mere mortals usually face. It's also another chance for me to opine about couture like I actually know what I'm talking about (but I kind of do, right?). Thanks to the exhibit Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, glamazons left me daydreaming with my jaw on the floor.
From pretty peplums (Emma Roberts, Solange Knowles, Sofia Vergara) to feather-detailed frocks (Beyonce, Kate Bosworth, Cate Blanchett) the red carpet was brimming with look-at-me statements. Of course, there were sparkly numbers aplenty: Karolina K, Lana del Rey, Giselle, Carey Mulligan + more.
Also noted: backless dresses (Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, Kate, + much more!) and dark bold wine-hued lips (Lana del Rey! Camilla Belle! Kate Bosworth!). I have to say that one of my swoon-worthy picks of the evening go to Camilla Belle--the 20's-inspired makeup, the shimmery dress #elegant. Also, can we discuss the ombre black to purple feather Beyonce was cascading in? Givenchy is synonymous with genius. Speaking of Givenchy... Rooney Mara also killed it in the black haute coture gown. And about that glamourous Cartier necklace January Jones wore with overall avant-garde Versace gown? Stunning. Before I carry on with the homework that is staring at me right now, I want to applaud Lily Collins for wearing that delicate Valentino dress. I love a young starlet who doesn't need to show off her skin/body to get attention--that's what you call classy. If I had to pick a dress to personally wear from this batch, that would probably be one of my top choices. Cheers to next year's Met Ball.
